HOW DOES IT FUNCTION?

When discussing induction, much focus is placed on the power of the induction heater. However, power is just one of three key factors. The other two are the area over which the power is distributed and the frequency. The power-to-area ratio is a crucial aspect, where the inductor plays a vital role in achieving a high power density. Alesco stands as a global leader in this field.

The final element, frequency, is always a trade-off. Generally speaking, the lower the frequency, the deeper the magnetic penetration into the material. Alesco’s 3-phase systems operate at a fixed frequency of 15-18 kHz (depending on the model), which generates heat deep within the material – typically, this is the desired outcome.

When heating at higher frequencies, the heat is concentrated at the surface, which can risk overheating and potentially damaging the outer layer.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?

The primary uses for our induction heaters include releasing mechanical joints, heat alignment, and pre-/post-heating of welded components in production processes.

Induction differs significantly from using an open flame, as heat is generated instantly deep within the part being heated. With induction, a rapid temperature difference is created across the joint, causing movement that "breaks" the bond and reduces the torque needed to release the joint.

This method is also much gentler compared to using an open flame, saving time by eliminating the need to disassemble heat-sensitive parts. Key benefits include time savings, no open flame, a better working environment, fewer fumes when heating painted parts, and immediate expansion of the joint.

ARGUMENTS FOR INDUCTION HEATING!

REPLACE THE OPEN FLAME

  • Gain better control over the heating process
  • Increase the desired part expansion due to deeper heat penetration
  • Save time – no need to dismantle heat-sensitive parts
  • Eliminate the need for direct contact during heating
  • Heat all metals in a controlled manner, including non-magnetic ones like copper, aluminum, and stainless steel

SAFER WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Minimize fumes during heating
  • Lower insurance costs by removing gas-related risks
  • A more ergonomic working method
  • No extra protective gear needed
  • Prevent common injuries like shoulder, back, and crush injuries by letting the induction heat do the job for you
